About Me

Hello and welcome to laurapatricewriting.com!

I’m Laura Patrice and, simply put, I write about love. Being in love, falling in love, the highs and lows of love, the mess that is love — all of it. More specifically, I write contemporary romance. Even more specifically, I write love stories that take place in the Midwest, mainly in Wisconsin, my adopted home state, but I do like to branch out from time to time. I also dabble in what is classified as paranormal romance, but instead of writing about werewolves and vampires, I focus on the future and what love might look like amidst ridiculous technology or an uber-oppressive government. There’s a lot going on in my head.

But regardless of where or when my stories are focused, to me, the romance arc is always the most important! Before one of my Thursday night writing roundtables at Red Oak Writing, I said to Director Kim Suhr, “All I really care about in anything I write or read is the romance.” She very kindly pointed me in the right and obvious direction. And now here we are, with all my work focusing on the wonderful rhythms and beats that make romance what it is. For those of you who are interested, Gwen Hayes’ Romancing the Beat is a true revelation.

I joined the Romance Writers of America as an associate member at the end of October, 2018, and am also a member of the Wisconsin chapter, WisRWA. I’m beyond exited to push myself as a writer and feel like I’m getting ever closer to what always felt like an elusive dream — getting published!

Come with me on this journey!

Laura
