About

Hello and welcome to laurapatricewriting.com!

About Me

I’m Laura Patrice and, simply put, I write about love. Being in love, falling in love, the highs and lows of love, the mess that is love — all of it. More specifically, I write contemporary romance. Even more specifically, I write love stories that take place in the Midwest, with a heavy emphasis on Wisconsin and Illinois.

I was born and raised in the Chicago area and recently moved into the city after over six years of living in Wisconsin. The Midwest will always be home, and despite living with Lake Michigan to the east for most of my live, I’m proud to be living the No Coast lifestyle here in flyover country. But you won’t want to skip the area for long. As my character can attest, things are really heating up! 😉

About My Writing

To me, the romance arc is always the most important part of a story! Before one of my Thursday night writing roundtables at Red Oak Writing, I said to Director Kim Suhr, “All I really care about in anything I write or read is the romance.” She very kindly pointed me in the right and obvious direction. And now here we are, with all my work focusing on the wonderful rhythms and beats that make romance what it is. For those of you who are interested, Gwen Hayes’ Romancing the Beat is a true revelation.

I joined the Romance Writers of America at the end of October, 2018, and am also a member of the Wisconsin chapter, WisRWA. I’m beyond exited to push myself as a writer and feel like I’m getting ever closer to what always felt like an elusive dream — getting published!

Come with me on this journey!
